Bronchiolitis

Ever have a day that makes you want to pull your hair out and scream?  Today is the day.  Both Lucy and Harrison were diagnosed with Bronchiolitis by the pediatrician.  Sigh.  She said that there is a very high chance that Lucy will end up in the hospital, but we are hoping that doesn't happen. Our awesome pediatrician said she will do everything she can to see if we can just do oxygen at home instead of an actual hospital stay.  Keeping my fingers crossed!  I would like to have just one winter that my kids don't get really sick.  Frustrating. Harrison is holding up well, but poor baby Lucy looks like she's been run through the wringer.

What is bronchiolitis?
Bronchiolitis is inflammation of the bronchioles, the smallest air passages of the lungs. This inflammation is usually caused by viruses.
90% of the patients are aged between 1 and 9 months old. Bronchiolitis is the most common cause of hospitalization up to the first year of life. It is epidemic in winters.  (Wikipedia)
We are officially under quarantine for the next week. Wish us luck!

Oh no! I am so sorry. We had three years in a row that Katelyn got very sick with things like bronchiolitis, RSV, a skin infection...yuck. Either she has grown out of it or her immune system is stronger because of it. She hasn't been very sick at all the past few years and the nebulizer we used to use every time she was sick is now brought out maybe once a year. Good luck to you. Thank goodness for modern medicine and good doctors.

Ooooh, sweet little people!! So, if it is caused by a virus do they give them medicine? or just treat with oxygen? There is no comfort in being told you just have to wait it out. When Pete had pneumonia last year, it was horrible, but the antibiotics worked really fast. I'm sooooo sorry. Please give kisses to everyone for me. We are home sick today, even Dave, but just head colds, nothing too bad. Hang in there!
