We just bought Lily a new bed. It's a twin bed so she looks really tiny in it . She didn't want to sleep in her crib anymore, so we figured it was time. We took her to the store with us to pick it out. She was so excited when we bought it. As you can see from the pictures Lily couldn't wait to play on it. I didn't even have a chance to get the sheets on. From the time we brought it home to the time she actually had to go to bed she was playing make-believe bedtime. She made her kitty and Abby doll go to bed. She would act out the whole thing by telling them goodnight, giving them a blanket and a kiss, then putting her finger to her lips and saying Shhhhhh. It was really funny. Things are a little different now. She still loves it, but is not sure at all how to handle her new freedom of being able to get in and out of bed when she wants. She has a hard time staying in bed at first. Check out the video to see what I mean. You will definitely want to turn off the music to hear Lily.
Our trick to finally getting her to go to sleep is to sing James Taylor, "You can close your eyes". My mom sang it to me when I was little, and now Lily loves it. If you aren't familiar with it, it it the second to last song on my big playlist at the bottom of the blog. I have been singing it to her since she was a new baby.
